Books for Cooks is Notting Hill’s famous cookbook shop, crammed with thousands of tasty titles and equipped with a squashy sofa for cookbook junkies in need of a long read. Books for Cooks was founded in 1983 by Heidi Lascelles. At that time, the whole venture must have seemed highly improbable. British cooking was a standing joke the world over, with London a highly unlikely location for a cook book store. Since then, Books for Cooks has gone from strength to strength with over 8,000 books on the shelves. Books for Cooks can even provide an avid reader with a book list featuring their very own recommendation in respect of a particular area of interest (e.g. bread, Thai, chefs etc.). Also good to bear in mind is that Books for Cooks' stock far exceeds the realm of simple recipe books to include foodie fiction, history, biography, nutrition, art, sociology and chemistry as well as a considerable collection of gourmet cards and posters.
