OK, so it's not really a bookshop in the traditional sense of the word however the iBooks app (and iBookstore) is a great way to read and buy books. Apple are saying a reader is able to buy everything from classics to best sellers from the built-in iBookstore and that once you've bought a book, it's displayed on your Bookshelf. The Ipad does look very cool indeed - just tap it to start reading and the high-resolution, LED-backlit screen displays everything in sharp, rich colour, so it's easy to read, even in low light. And you can carry it around everywhere with you, enjoy a cup of coffee at the same time and even surf the internet in between chapters!

Apple have been at the forefront of design for the past decade. We at Floreat Books love their products: we design our books and websites on Macs and and email and speak to each other on our iPhones. We think the iPad will encourage a whole new bunch of readers to investigate the ebook, or should we now say, ibook market. We believe that printed books will never go out of fashion however it is clear that the iPad will give us a whole new view on reading books. |
