FLOREAT (Latin, verb) flo-re-ät: may (he, she, or it) flourish. It took us a long time to come up with our company name – something that would inspire us as well as others. Admittedly, our name often leads to problems: “How do you spell that?”, “But I emailed you at info@flouritboks.com” and “Latin is a dead language. No one speaks Latin as his or her native language, and this has been the case for more than a millennium. Wake up, get a modern company name and stop being so pretentious”. OK, so we haven’t had the last comment… yet… but our company name often takes a bit of explaining. However, once people understand the message and see it emblazoned on our website, the message becomes a little clearer. In short, we set up to try to help authors with whatever publishing goals they have set for themselves.
Founded at the end of 2009, Floreat Books is an independent company based in London not too far from Bedford Square (above) in Bloomsbury, the heart of London's literary community. Currently, we run a virtual office, working with committed freelancers and trusted partner companies. That doesn't mean we're not committed to meeting, discussing and getting to know our authors - far from it. Do pick up the phone and give us a call to speak to one of our real live, friendly staff to get some initial advice on what to do next with your book or just to ask us a bit more about us and what we do. And if you're in London, we prefer to meet our authors face to face so please do let us know if you fancy meeting up.
