Unlock the commercial potential of your book

Description

Our Book Development service is our basic, introductory service to try to help your book along the way to a traditional publishing deal. We will have a one hour appraisal meeting with you (in person if you can make it to London or on the telephone if not) to discuss the theme of your book and the marketing "hook" which gives your book the commercial potential for a Publisher. Following this discussion with you, our marketing consultant will then provide you with a bespoke Book Development Plan for you to implement. Using the ideas contained in the Book Development Plan you can then decide which Literary Agents to target and research their submission standards yourself. If you would like help deciding which Literary Agents to approach please take a look at our Literary Agents Pack service which is a much more in depth service.

This service is not just aimed at those who only want to go for a Traditional Publishing deal from the start. We realise that for many authors the indie-publishing option is a path to building a commercial following to give them the credentials for a Literary Agent to take them on. So, if you're already indie-published and would like another shot at the Traditional Publishing route to market, we can help you out too.

Many authors opt to indie-publish with a view to showcasing their book and then attracting an agent and/or traditional publisher off the back of it – if this is the case for you, you should definitely consider this service.
Literary agents are often called the gatekeepers to the big traditional publishers – want the latter, you need the former.
It is often said that getting a literary agent is harder than getting a traditional publishing deal
It is essential that you showcase you and your book in the right way to avoid falling at the first hurdle.

Process Summary

It's good to know that you don't actually need to finish your book in order to test the Traditional Publishing market as most agents will only require a few chapters or around 60 pages in order to judge your writing talent. This means you can order this service at any time although ensure you are not rushing your book out there - make sure it is the best manuscript you could have possibly written.

We very much recommend that you take out our Manuscript Editing service at the outset if you're going for a Traditional Publishing deal. While we at Floreat Books will not pass judgement on the literary merit of your manuscript, our independent editors can give you a feel for whether you're up to "commercial publication" standard. Furthermore, by havig a fresh pair of eyes look over your work, you will eliminate spelling mistakes and incorrect grammar that would no doubt discourage any Literary Agent from reading more of your work.
