Floreat Books is a author services company based in London and set up at the end of 2009. We're not trying to change the publishing world - instead, we're just trying to improve upon the current batch of author services companies out there already. We're committed to delivering exactly what the author wants, catering for every budget and offering our authors a raft of services and products that means they can benefit from a level of service and expertise that used to be the preserve of the best-selling novelist. What makes us different from other author services companies is that we work with both authors regardless of whether they're looking at getting a Traditional Publishing deal or considering Independent Publishing. And, if you've already published your book, we're more than happy to just help you with marketing. We are dedicated to providing every author with a friendly, personalised and professional service. If you’re not sure what you need to get your book out there, our friendly staff are able to discuss your needs with you, explain the whole process and help you put together a collection of publishing, design and marketing services to suit you. And if you just want some initial, no obligation, advice then that's fine as well!

In short, anyone and everyone. From students to retired hobby writers, professional organisations to children’s writers, industry experts and academics; from thrillers to science fiction, fairy tales to cook books, and literary fiction to commercial fiction – whatever your book is about we have the skills and experience to bring out your book the way you want it.

Technology is really changing the publishing world. There are now websites which allow you to control every aspect of the publishing process yourself - some even for free (although they make their money from higher printing costs). We think these sites are great but not for everyone. We decided to make our Independent Publishing services fee based - i.e. an author pays us a fee for the hand holding through the publishing process and the ability to bundle all the requisite skills (design, printing etc.) into one convenient service. We did this for several reasons but mainly because we wanted to have control over the quality of the books produced and be able to speak to and build relationships with our customers as so many companies these days just rely on email support or none at all.

Our objective is to become known as the premium service for those authors who want a bit of help getting their books out there. Yes, we're quite expensive but we do feel that actually we are giving great value for money and a much more personal service. We hope to become known as an author services company who produces great quality books and really does everything in its power to help their authors. Grand plans indeed - we hope to live up to them.

"Floreat" is a latin verb meaning may he, she or it flourish. We thought long and hard about what to call our company and central to our philosophy was the idea that we could help authors flourish.

There are lots and lots of ideas we have for the future of our little company. Top of the agenda is to be much more transparent on book quality and the final retail prices of our books. We're working on this and should have more information relating to this up on our website in the very near future. Our second priority item is to work out how to overcome the major drawback to Indie-Publishing - getting physical distribution (in a meaningful way) of our books in bookstores.
